Two people should be in charge of holding a long stick or pole. Each participant has to walk under the stick. Start with the stick high enough so that everyone can clear it easily. Once everyone has passed under the stick, the stick holders need to lower it by a couple of inches. With the stick lower, they must bend backwards to clear it and they are not allowed to bend their knees. Anyone who cannot clear the stick is eliminated from the game. As the stick is lowered, only the most flexible players will remain. The winner is the last remaining person to pass under the stick. A set of poles etc. is available for UK visitors to buy at the great games company in Cambridge - Sunshine Bits Until 30th June 2009 use these special codes to get a picnic discount at Sunshine Bits.
A new and much more portable version of the game (therefore even better for picnics where you don't want to carry too much) is Limbo String from IWOOT. At the click of a button the multi-coloured string whizzes into action creating a fluorescent arch that all the picnickers will have to lean backwards and dance through. You don't even need a stereo as the Limbo String has its own Limbo music to get you shaking to the groove.
For only £19.99, it's dead clever and will turn any picnic into a party everyone will remember for a long time - even if it's because half of them ended up in traction!
