My Picnic Proposal

My second husband proposed to me on a picnic!
I was a young widow, as my first husband died a couple of years earlier, when he was 40, and he was also a widower as his 42 year old wife had also died suddenly.
We had met about 6 months earlier - introduced by a mutual friend who thought we might get along. Well, we did get along, and at 40 and 46 years old we were having a great time. We each had two teens who were all old enough that they were busy doing their own thing, and Casey and I were having a great old time going to auctions, Fall fairs, the beach and walking many of the pretty trails in this area of Canada where we live.
One Saturday in September, as the weather was still warm, we packed a picnic and drove to the city of Brantford, Ontario, about an hour from our home-town, and we picked a spot close to Her Majesty's Chapel of the Mohawks (history lesson - built in 1785 - this was the first Anglican Church in Upper Canada).
We had just got ourselves settled on our blanket and had unloaded our picnic, when my honey turned to me and asked me to marry him! I was surprised, but delighted, and of course said "Yes!"
We were married the following summer, with our 4 teenagers as our wedding party.
We go back to Brantford now and again, but there has never been such a lovely picnic since!

What a great website. Full of passion and great ideas.
I've got it bookmarked to come back to to get ideas for picnics and barbeques.
