I logged onto your site to get some ideas for the family picnic that I have arranged for tomorrow at a local park in Kent. Weather's looking good and about 22 of us confirmed to attend so fingers crossed for some fun and rounders!!

Bored child

by Roneisha

Hi,

I don't like kids staying around the house doing nothing so I'm letting my daughter have a picnic.

Thank you

by Jordan Pena
(California)

My name is Jordan and I recently turned 18. I live in SD,California, and it is getting quite hot lately. It's summer and my boyfriend of 2 years and I just love getting outside and exploring the beauty of nature.

We couldn't think of what to do on a regular Wednesday afternoon, so my boyfriend (Christopher) was actually the one to suggest a picnic. The last time I had a picnic, I was 6 years old and eating applesauce and juice with my toys in the backyard, so I wasn't exactly sure of what to bring or do at an actual picnic.

I was so happy and surprised when I found your website. You answered all my questions and concerns, and you even gave me new ideas. So thank you for the wonderful tips.

Also, my boyfriend's mother grew up in Ireland, and still has family there. I only mention this because I thought it was a wonderful coincidence that you grew up in Ireland as well. I'm glad you made a website about a certain thing that makes you truly happy and that you share it with others in the hopes of easing the stress of other picnic lovers and first-timers (like me).

Thank you again.

Old timers...

a cup of tea

a cup of tea

This delightful picture of a few of my clan shows my "Auntie Ila" (on far RHS) who would have been 100 years old today (Thursday, January 07, 2010). Next to Ila is her husband Charles and son David, and her mother Elizabeth (Lily).

Ila was one of five girls, and was really my Mum's Aunt. Also included in the picture is her sister Muriel (who will be 91 this year) and her husband Dennis.

The other girls were Maud (my grandmother who would have been a 100 next year), Bett (who lives in Lichfield) and Dilys.

You can't beat a good picnic...

we do it most weekends in the New Forest, when we're out on our bikes, or maybe just a homemade pasty with chippies on the beach....
