A picnic table cloth can be made of paper, treated paper, plastic, oilcloth or an easily washed material. It really depends where you are going to put it and how you want it to look.
If you are going to lay it out on the ground on or beside your picnic blanket, then something like a plastic or oilcloth picnic table cover would be best. It will not disintegrate or tear and you can mop up spills easily.
If, however, you need it to cover a picnic table, then you have more to choose from. You can save money by using rolls of crepe paper or cheap paper tablecloths. Paper comes is bright colours but will only last for the one picnic so may not be as economical as you think. It will also tear or fall apart if it gets wet and may even stain something if the ink runs out.
On a picnic table I still prefer to use a strong fabric, which can be quickly wiped over and used over and over again. I love Cath Kidston's 100% PVC coated fabrics. They are fabulous.
So pretty and yet hard-wearing, with a wipeable finish and at 140cm wide, ideal for a picnic table cloth. Heavy quality with no sewing required - you simply cut to size. This makes a quick and easy way to dress a picnic table and so much nicer than rustling paper.
If it’s a really gourmet picnic you’re planning, then you might prefer a medium weight cotton duck fabric, without the addition of PVC, and again Cath comes up trumps with her gorgeous designs.
Why not buy or make matching napkins or cushions for your picnic?
Again they are 140 cm width, so ideal for table coverings, as well as napkins, cushions and other upholstery projects.
For UK picnickers, there is free delivery on orders over £100. For international orders the delivery price varies according to the size of the order.
Her fabrics all coordinate with her other products too, so with colourful glasses and piles of plates and cutlery, you’re ready to go. One of Cath’s prints will make even a cheese sandwich seem special!
She will ship internationally so wherever you live in the world you can enjoy her beautiful designs. If you are looking for picnic table covers, which are not just classic English style but very contemporary too, then I think Cath's site is the one to head for.
See you there!
