Sack race

Get sacked then jump!
A sack race is fun for all ages and is a great game for picnics. Very simply, you run a race in a huge bag – so I find jumping the easiest as you fall down less often!
If you can’t get hold of the hessian sacks we used to use at school sports days, then you can buy brightly coloured ones from games companies.
Sunshine Bits
is my favourite company for all kinds of garden games. They are situated in Cambridge, UK, so if you live in the UK, I strongly suggest you check them out.
They can deliver a pack of 5 adult sized sacks in fabulous bright colours for £31.50. Delivery charges vary but are Free to the UK mainland if your order is more than £75.
Children can use the adult size ones too, simply by folding over the top.
They measure 45 inches high x 30 inches wide and they even have names! Which one do you want to jump into?
- Fireball
>
- Dozy
- Fever
- Wired
- Mad Dog!
Of course you can use them over and over again for many picnics to come. You can enjoy a this hillarious game at every picnic you organize from now on!
If you have more than 5 people at the picnic and you don’t want to invest in more than one pack of these colourful bags, then have groups of 5 race each other and then the winners compete in a final.

They also offer a great assault course set. Off the line with the sack race, weave through the posts, under the net, step through the hoops.
This seems to be (I haven’t actually ordered it) a great set of games that you can mix and match to create your very own unique course.
A set includes:
- 16 x 153/4"/40cm hoops
- 8 x 4'/1.2m poles
- 8'/2.4m scramble net with ground pegs
- two sacks
- zippered canvas carry bag
Have fun!
