A sack race is fun for all ages and is a great game for picnics. Very simply, you run in a huge bag – so I find jumping the easiest as you fall down less often!
You all start off together, inside a bag each, and the first to reach the finish line is the winner! Not to difficult to explain!
If you have adults and children taking part, then you can let the youngsters start off ahead of the grown-ups, so they do not have so far to run/jump.
You need sturdy bags such as hessian sacks or burlap bags, used to store potatoes or other vegetables. You can also buy purpose made bags for this game.
These Potato Sacks feature stars and polka dots with the words PARTY HOP present on the front in primary colors of red, yellow and blue. Each package includes six woven Party Sacks which measure 41 inches high x 41 inches wide.
Only $11.99 for a packet of 6.

You have another option, if you live in the USA. The link below is your Amazon site and there are lots of different bags to choose from here, including a set of four durable 22" ones with fabric handles in assorted colors.
You can also choose to buy single or multiple burlap bags from various different suppliers.
You can buy brightly coloured ones from Amazon UK if you live in Europe.
- this Traditional Garden Sports Day Set is my favourite because you get extra games equipment for very little extra money.
You will receive not only 4 big coloured bags, but 4 bean bags, four ankle straps for the 3 legged race, and 4 eggs and spoons for the egg and spoon race. Start and finish tapes and stakes are also included. This pack is available to UK and European addresses and is full of fun and action to get anyone aged over 3 years going!
Of course you can use the items over and over again for many parties to come. You can enjoy these hilarious races at every picnic you organize from now on!
If you have more than 4 people who want to play and you don’t want to invest in more than one pack, then have groups of 4 compete against each other and then the winners take part in a final.
Have fun!
